Four yet to-be-born girls made Vani
MULTAN: Another case of Vani has come to light as four unborn girls have been pledged to this cruel tradition on the orders of a local council (jirga) held in Sader police in Dera Ghazi Khan on April 7, 2006. Eight year ago, three cousins Abdul Karim Noor Bakhsh. The court sentenced a life term imprisonment to Noor Bakhsh and acquitted Abdul Karim and Faqeer Muhammad giving those benefits of doubt. Around the same time, former Nazim of Fort Munro, Hamid khan Zanglani, Aslam Qiamani held the jirga and decided that the accused party would offer six girls as Vani, Rs 3.5 million and property worth Rs 5.5 million as compensation.
These were the terms for reconciliation. According to the decision made by the jirga, girls that would be born in the house of Imam Bakhsh, father of Noor Bakhsh, Raiz Muhammad, Abdul Karim and Ali Haider would be given to family of the murder man. On April 14, Hamid Zanglani, Ahmed Ali, Aslam Qaimani and other held another jirga and other held another jirga and decreased the number of girls from six to four.
