Four testify in three-year-old girl’s murder case
KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court recorded on Thursday testimonies of four witnesses in a case pertaining to the kidnap, rape and murder of a three-year-old girl.
A judicial magistrate, a medico-legal officer, the complainant and a neighbour of the victim appeared before Judge Syed Hasan Shah Bukhari of the ATC-I as prosecution witnesses and recorded their statements.
Head Constable Bashir Ahmed and Constable Noor Mohammad of the traffic police are accused of kidnapping, raping and killing three-year-old Sana, daughter of Mohammad Qasim, on July 3.
Judicial magistrate Malik Akhtar Hussain testified that the investigation officer had produced the accused men in his court and he conducted the identification parade in accordance with the law. Witnesses Mohammad Yasin and Munir Ahmed identified both the accused during the parade, he said, adding that he also recorded statements of both witnesses under Section 164 of the criminal procedure code.
The lady MLO of the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, Dr Fareeda Mobin, deposed that she had conducted the autopsy of the victim’s body.
She stated that the victim child was subjected to rape which caused her death.
Abdul Hashim, the victim’s uncle and complainant in the case, stated that the police registered an FIR after recording his statement under Section 154 of the criminal procedure code in which he nominated both the accused, adding that the police handed over the victim’s body to him.
The last witness, a neighbour of the deceased, Noor Mohammad, testified that he accompanied a police party that recovered the victim’s body from a manhole near the FTC building on a lead given by the accused on July 5.
He stated that the memo of the body’s recovery was prepared in his presence.
Special Public Prosecutor Mohammad Khan Buriro told the court that a DNA test report was yet to be received and a letter in this connection was being sent to the authority concerned in Islamabad.
The hearing was adjourned till Friday.
A case (FIR 331/2009) was registered against the accused under Sections 364, 376 and 302/34 of the Pakistan Penal Code read with Section 6(b) punishable under Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997 at the Zaman Town police station.
