Four cable operators’ licenses cancelled

KARACHI- The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has withdrawn the licenses of four cable operators for relaying certain Indian/Star channels despite the ban imposed by it.

The cable operators whose licenses have been withdrawn are Everest Informatics (Pvt) Ltd, Karachi; Vision Cable TV Systems, Karachi; City Communication, Karachi; and City Cable, Karachi.

According to PTA, a team of the Authority’s officials raided the offices of the said cable operators on January 31, 2002, for violating the PTA’s instructions.

The PTA has once again directed all cable operators to comply with the directives of the government and stop relaying banned channels immediately.

The Authority has also set up a complaint cell to receive complaints regarding information about violations.
