First cyber community centre being set up at Gwadar
KARACHI- The first Cyber Community Centre (CCC) in the country is being established at Gwadar, Balochistan.
This is being set up by the Sustainable Development Networking Programme (SNDP), a joint project of the World Conservation Union (IUCN) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in collaboration with a local NGO- Rural Community Development Council (RCDC).
Moin Haider Zaidi, Coordinator of SDNP, said that the CCC will be inaugurated by the Balochistan Minister for Social Welfare, Ms. Roshan Khursheed Barocha, on April 18.
He said that the poject not only envisages the training pertaining to computer and internet but the community would also be involved in the exercise.
Zaidi said that the project would benefit the people of the area as they would be having access to information available on the Internet. The local population would also be able to communicate with the rest of the country and the world using the CCC facility.
A seminar on the role of information and communications technologies in development will also be organized at Gwadar on April 18 in collaboration with the RCDC. A website on Gwadar district would also be launched on the occasion.
Later, another CCC would be set up in a village in Kohat area in collaboration with an organization- Al-Asar Academy.
