First book on beat reporting in Pakistan launched

Lahore Press Club on June 1, 2016 organized the launching ceremony of a book entitled “Reporting” on journalism. The book was written by Shahbaz Akamal Jandran and published by the Pakistan Press Foundation (PPF).

The book is very interesting, inspiring and thought-provoking for media persons, as it contains over 140 beats and more than 5,500 special ideas for ensuring elegant and high-quality reporting. It contains high caliber content which is easy to understand and can greatly help write news stories, articles, and investigative reports in best manner.

Speakers at the launching ceremony said that the book was written by a professional journalist, which is not only a beacon for journalists, but newsroom could also take enormous benefit from it.

Pakistan Today’s Editor Arif Nizami, Daily City 42’s Editor Naveed Chaudhry, senior journalist Khawar Naeem Hashmi, other journalists and media workers participated in the ceremony.

The aim of the book’s author is to guide all those young people, who want to enter the field of journalism. Through this book, new reporters or students have a great chance to improve their journalism skills and solve the reporting issues in a more professional way.

This book has been written keeping in view contemporary requirements of journalists. Usually in books, writers neglect to discuss the requirements of media that remain challenging for students and news journalists, but this book has taken into account all the requirements of present media trends; therefore, the publication of this book would be counted as a master piece in the field of journalism.

Jandran started his journey and career in the field of journalism in 1999 as a reporter in Roznama Ahsas. After this, he worked for Daily News. Later, he obtained the position of Deputy Chief Reporter in Daily Pakistan and expertise in the field of reporting. He further went on and provided his services as in-charge of Election Cell, Crime Cell, and Investigation Cell.
