Film processing laboratory to be set up soon

ISLAMABAD: Chief Executive of Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) Tauqeer Nasir on Monday held a meeting with the stakeholders of Film Industry on representation of Picture Processing Laboratory/ Film Cameras to be set up by the Ministry of Culture.

Representatives from the Film Industry including Ajjab Gul, Suhail Khan, Usman Pirzada, Sajjad Gul, Amjad Farzand Ali from Araya Picture, Shehnshah Rizvi from Shah Noor Studio and others attended the meeting to share their expertise in the field for facilitating the study on the feasibility of laboratory.

The working paper for the meeting comprised the details on technical facilities for the proposed Motion Picture Processing Laboratory, Conventional Film Cameras and Film Processing Equipment. Suggestions were presented by the stakeholders for modern film cameras, digital processing machines, conventional cameras, telecine machines, establishment of film archives and manpower requirements and their training for the operation of the proposed Film Processing laboratory and technical facilities.

Talking to APP, Tauqeer Nasir said the meeting was an attempt to gather the representatives having a background of film industry to discuss all the problems being faced by the industry. He said all the stakeholders would work with a vision to move forward practically and realistically to make quality movies. Tauqeer Nasir said the participants also made recommendations of formulating a national film policy comprising the issues of film making in modern era.
