Federal Flood Commission predicts flash floods in next 48 hours

ISLAMABAD: Preventive measures must be taken to avoid losses as flash flooding is expected in various areas of the country during the next 48 hours, warns federal flood commission (FFC) here on Wednesday.

According to a press release of FFC, from medium to high flash flooding is expected in rivers Kabul, Kurram, Gambila, Swat and their tributaries in the next 48 hours due to moderate and heavy rains over Kohat, Bannu, Peshawar, Mardan and Hazara division.

Meanwhile, Chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Dr Zafar Iqbal Qadir has directed the provincial disaster management authorities to be ready to cope with any eventuality. He said NDMA was closely monitoring the situation and fully prepared to protect the lives and properties of the disaster hit people and provide them immediate help.
