Federal Cabinet Revises Exit Control List, Media Persons Imran Riaz Khan and Sami Ibrahim Among New Additions
On March 28, the federal cabinet endorsed the addition of 24 names to the Exit Control List (ECL), following a proposal shared by the Interior Ministry. This list now includes prominent journalists Sami Ibrahim and Imran Riaz Khan.
The Interior Ministry circulated a summary for approval from the Federal Cabinet citing ongoing inquiries against the journalists as the reason for their inclusion on the ECL. The revisions in the list were based on recommendations from the sub-committee on ECL and approved by the cabinet, including the addition and removal of several individuals.While the reasons for their inclusion on the ECL remain unclear, on March 9, Khan was granted bail in the Zaman Park attack case by an anti-terrorism court in Lahore. The case involved allegations of vandalism and assaulting police officials during a clash at the residence of Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan. Meanwhile, Ibrahim was granted bail in a terrorism case in June 2023.
