Fawad, PTV MD lock horns again

Pakistan Press Foundation

ISLAMABAD: PTV managing director and federal minister for information are once again at loggerheads as the latter has said that conditions of the national television will not improve until a new MD is appointed.

Information minister Fawad Chaudhry believes the current administration has completely failed to provide pensions to the employees yet the MD remains glued to his seat. He also said the government has already started looking for a new MD and has so far received about 40 applications.

Meanwhile, both federal minister and PTV MD were called by the Senate Committee Meeting for Human Rights to explain their position on the issue of non-payment of salaries and pension.

Chaudhry maintained the MD had himself increased his salary but no one is doing anything to ensure payment of pensions. “A few members of the board are also part of this and we have referred the matter to NAB,” he said.

The MD however said he is against nepotism and corruption in PTV but has allegedly appointed two of his relatives in the organisation.

Chaudhry said the PTV MD was asked to prepare a business plan to overcome the financial deficit but there’s been no progress.

IHC to hear petitions in Ghotki girls case today.
