Faryal Talpur orders IGP Sindh to submit report in 24 hours

Karachi: Ms. Faryal Talpur, central President Pakistan Peoples’ Party Women Wing, has taken serious notice of raping a woman in Model Colony Police Station by a sub-inspector and directed inspector General of Police Sindh to submit report of the incident in 24 hours and take stern actions against the accused so that no personnel of law enforcement agencies dare to commit such heinous crime.

In her statement issued here, Ms. Sharmila Faruqui Secretary Information Pakistan Peoples’ Party Women Wing said that Ms. Faryal Talpur has directed the law enforcement agencies and officials concerned to protect the rights of women and such incidents were deplorable in which law personnel were involved. She said that such officers were a stain on the civilized face of Pakistani society. They should be punished according to the law and should be made exemplary for others. Ms. Sharmila Faruqui said that the number of women police stations should be increased in order to solve the problems of the women. She added that male policemen should be given training how to talk and solve the issues of the women and they should behave politely with women. She said that Ms. Faryal Talpur had issued directives to keep women police personnel in already established Police station in order to avoid such incidents in future. She said that the present democratic government had committed to protect the rights of women and children and their rights would be protected at all levels and strict action would be taken against those who were found involved in violation of women and children’s rights.
