Failing state or not, India and Pakistan are very similar: Swara Bhaskar tells Indian journalist

Swara Bhaskar’s controversial comments surely stirred up a storm in India and Pakistan. Although the actor has been defending herself ever since her ill-fated CNN interview, she seems to be changing her tune a bit now. Or at least, one can hope.

After the interview went viral, an Indian journalist by the name of Jagrati Shukla took to Twitter and added fuel to the fire by stating that Pakistan is indeed a “failed state,” rather than a “failing state.” She even went to the extent of calling Pakistan a “shit hole.”

But much to Jagrati’s dismay, Swara snapped back by defending Pakistan, stating that rest assured, it definitely isn’t a sh*t hole. The Veere Di Wedding starlet went on to compare the country to India and confirm that the two nations are quite similar.

Could this be Swara’s way of righting her wrongs? We’re not sure. The things she said about Pakistan in the CNN interview were quite scathing.

My goodwill towards the people of Pakistan remains unchanged: Swara Bhaskar

While talking about Pakistan’s ban on Veere Di Wedding, she had said, “For some reason I have to keep answering for that. I don’t know why people think I’m a spokesperson for the Pakistani government. What do you expect from a state that’s run by Shariah laws?”

“They’re a nonsecular state. I’m not surprised at all. Why should we hold up Pakistan, which is a failing state? I don’t understand why we keep taking pleasure and feeling a sense of self-worth from all the silly things that happen in Pakistan,” Swara said further. “Apologies to all my Pakistani friends right now. Rest assured, Pakistanis have way worse vocabulary than we do. I know.”
