Ex-armyman arrested for beating wife
RAWALPINDI: A retired army officer, who turned out to be a proclaimed offender (PO), was arrested by the Industrial Area police on Wednesday for torturing his wife, and sent him to Adiala jail, police said. Industrial Area DSP Jameel Hashmir, who is leading the investigation into the case, said that the second wife of Azhar Mehmood, a captain retired, lodged a complaint with the police saying that she was tortured by her husband, which caused injuries to her. The DSP said, Azhar Mehmood, who married a Lahore-based woman against her parents will, was wanted by the Lahore police in connection with the kidnapping of a woman, which was lodged by her parents, and he was declared proclaimed offender.
