Election fever: Ali Azmat endorses Fauzia Kasuri

With General Elections coming up later this month, several members of the entertainment industry have endorsed their choice of candidates.

Singer-songwriter and one of music industry’s biggest names, Ali Azmat, has endorsed Fauzia Kasuri, who is presently associated with Pak Sarzameen Party Pakistan, which is founded by Syed Mustafa Kamal. Taking to Twitter, Ali Azmat wrote, “My advice to voters. Vote for the candidate with the best credentials, regardless of political party. My vote is in #NA-247 and I will vote for @FauziaKasuri.”

Jibran Nasir, who is running as an independent candidate from Karachi, remains the front-runner when it comes to endorsement from the artist community.

Both Nadia Jamil and Meesha Shafi, whose votes fall in Lahore, have symbolically endorsed Jibran Nasir. He also has the vote of Ahsan Bari, Faiza Saleem, Mira Sethi, Sarmad Khoosat, Abbas Ali Khan, Dino Ali, Anoushey Ashraf, Osman Khalid Butt, Kami Sid, Natasha Beyg, Sheema Kermani, Arieb Azhar, Adnan Malik, Sanam Saeed, Mohammed Ahmed, Bushra Ansari, Maria Wasti, Mooroo, all of whom have starred in his campaign anthem, which is directed by Jami.

In the meantime, Imran Khan still has the endorsement of singer-songwriter Haroon Shahid, who made his acting debut in Shoaib Mansoor’s Verna, and endorsed Khan in the last elections as well. Imran Khan also has the endorsement of Hamza Ali Abbasi, Salman Ahmed, Mawra Hocane, Urwa Hocane and Farhan Saeed, with the latter having sung PTI’s campaign anthem ‘Ab Sirf Imran Khan’.

Several members of the entertainment scene are also running as candidates. Abrar ul Haq is running as a PTI candidate while Jawad Ahmed is running against Imran Khan, Shahbaz Sharif and Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari through his Barabri Party Pakistan; he is also the chairman of this party.

Veteran actors Sajid Hasan and Ayub Khoso are running as PPP candidate(s) with the latter having been endorsed by actor Hina Bayat.
