Ebad meets TV journalists
KARACHI – The Sindh Governor, Dr. Ishratul Ebad Khan, called upon the media on Sunday to concentrate on unbiased coverage of government and coalition parties’ activities because the administration too had a viewpoint which he regretted has too often been played down.
The result is an obvious handicap for the people to have a proper appreciation of government efforts to strike at the roots of public grievances.
Launching formally the newly formed Pakistan TV Journalists Association at the Governor House, he suggested that any lack of cooperation or communication gap between government departments and the print or electronic media should be quickly overcome. There must be a proper liaison between the two. Over a dozen camera and news reporters from Pakistan TV channels, including those from PTV, Geo and ARY had free and frank exchange of opinion with Dr. Ishratul Ebad.
The governor remarked that highlighting government’s weaknesses should be welcome, media simultaneously should give due coverage to the good work done by the administration or by the parties involved in the ruling coalition.
He had no hesitation in pointing out that media often picked up only the negative points for conveying to their readers or viewers and conveniently overlooked the plus points of a particular story or event. This should be avoided, he said. A balance must be struck in presentation of news and in editorials or comments offered by the columnists, he further said.
Sindh governor was happy at the formation of the association and promised all kind of help to its members from the Sindh government.
