District Council okays 3 resolutions

HYDERABAD: The District Council Hyderabad unanimously approved three separate resolutions, which demanded banning of smoke-emitting vehicles to protect the environment of the city from further deterioration.

The regular session of District Council continued-on its third consecutive day with Convener Zafar Ali Rajput in the chair.

In first resolution regarding @smoke emitting vehicles, tabled by Muhaminad Hakim said the smoke-emitting vehicles was the main cause of environmental pollution of the district. He said, unfortunately, the number of such vehicles was on the rise.

He suggested cancellation of registration and route permit of vehicles, which were more than 35 years old, besides challaning smoke-emitting vehicles.

The mover, Raeesa Begum, in her resolution expressed concern over the increasing number of smoke-emitting vehicles, which not only pollute environment but also create health problems for citizens.

Supporting the resolutions, the members of the house Zahida Memon, Muna Rashid, Hussain Bakhsh Hussaini, Mehboob Abro and others stressed the need for making timely appropriate measures to protect the environment.

They were of the view that ban on smoke emitting vehicles will resolve this important issue to some extent.
