Digital TV system to be developed: PEMRA
ISLAMABAD- Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has decided to develop digital TV system in Pakistan to meet future requirements in the field of electronic media.
A high level meeting of the Authority was held here on September 6 to prepare a national plan for the development of digital television system in Pakistan, as per plan of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
Chairman of PEMRA, Mian Mohammad Javed presided over the meeting attended by representatives from the Ministry of Information, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), Frequency Allocation Board (FAB) and other allied bodies.
The meeting decided to establish strategic planning group headed by Member PEMRA, Salim Gul comprising of representatives from PTA, FAB, radio and TV to make recommendations for the development of this system in the country. The group will finalize its recommendations within three months.
