Determine seniority from joining date: IHC
ISLAMABAD: Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui of Islamabad High Court (IHC) here Thursday directed state-run TV to determine seniority of its employees from the date of their joining.
An IHC division bench last year had regularised the services of these employees and then they filed petition for determination of their seniority from the date of joining. The state-run TV had recruited producers and assistant producers on contractual basis in year 2000 but their services were not regularised. It was last year when the TV regularised their services on the orders of the high court.
These petitioners seeking seniority from the date of their joining were also demanding back date arrears and benefits. IHC bench however deferred the matter till September in the matter of those employees who were over age at the time of their appointments. These employees were also seeking regularisation saying that the denial of the state-run TV administration to their regularisation was an act of discrimination.
