Delay in Media Colony’s electrification: NAB verifying charges against contractor, others
PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau, KP, has started verification of charges against the contractor and officials of Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) and Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) for the delay in the electrification and alleged use of the stolen material in the Peshawar Media Colony.
A statement issued here said the NAB had taken cognizance of the delay and alleged use of the stolen material in the Peshawar Media Colony by the contractor SA Construction and its owner, director Mujahid and officers and officials of the Pesco and the PDA.
It said that the NAB was looking into the reports that the contractor had used material stolen from Tribal Electric Supply Company with the collusion of the officials of Pesco and Tesco.
The communication said not only the contractor failed to complete the project within the specified time but also could not complete the work even when given an extension.
The complaint by the allottees of the housing colony said after failing to complete the task, the contractor obtained a stay order from a court, thus further delaying the project.
The complainants said that dilly-dallying by the contractor, Pesco and PDA caused years of delay in the completion of the project, causing them frustration and hardships in obtaining electricity and water supply for construction of the houses.
The NAB said it had started the verification of the charges against the contractor and the officers involved and would examine the files and documents to ascertain the facts to bring the culprits to justice. It may be mentioned here that the contractor, who had failed to complete the project within the contracting period and the extended time given to him, has now obtained a stay order from a civil court to stop the PDA from providing electricity to the housing colony. The case is due to come up for a hearing on Saturday.
