Defamation law: an onslaught on press freedom
LAHORE – Secretary Information Pakistan Muslim League – N Punjab Syed Zaeem Qadri has said that Defamation Law is an onslaught on the freedom of press as the government first imposed a ban on the advertisement of the newspapers and now it has forwarded the bill for defamation law in the assembly.
According to a press release issued in Lahore on August 2, he said that rulers want to deprive the opposition of their right to criticize through defamation law. It shows that there is nothing such as democracy in the country.
He also condemned the killing of five army men and six innocent Pakistanis.
He said that the anarchy and uneasiness are unprecedented in the country. He said that the rulers had better give up powers and let the popular leadership take up the reign of the country.
