Cyber Cafes to be set up at railway stations
ISLAMABAD- Pakistan Railways (PR) signed and agreement with Catalyst Communication (Pvt.) Ltd. for setting up of Cyber Cafes at various Railway Stations.
The new agreement is part of the efforts by the PR to upgrade the facilities to passengers at railway stations and to enhance their image.
On behalf of Pakistan Railways Secretary and Chairman Railways Lt. Gen (R) Saeedul Zafar signed the agreements while Brig. (R) Javed Tipu signed the agreement from Catalyst Communication (Pvt.) Ltd.
Federal Minister for communications and Railways Lt.Gen (R) Javed Ashraf Qazi and senior officers of Railways were also present. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said, under the agreement, Communications will initially establish 15 Cyber Cafes at various Railway Stations.
This agreement is a supplementary to government efforts in introducing the Information Technology (IT) facilities shall be extended to rural population. The Cyber Cafes would also provide IT training facilities at economical cost. He said, “We desire participation of private sector in development and restoration process of Pakistan Railway.”
He said, agreements with the commercial companies will help provide healthy environment at Railway Stations. “The objective of the agreements is to ensure provision to traveling facilities to the people at reasonable rates,” he added.
Qazi said, effective steps have been taken for making Pakistan Railway a corruption free department and “We have achieved considerable success to this effect.”
