Cultural festival for kiln workers today
LAHORE: The United Nations, Association of Network for Community Empowerment (ANCE), International Labour Organisation (ILO) and the Punjab University are jointly organising a festival titled ‘Cultural Mela to Empower Brick Kiln Workers’ at PU College of Art and Design today (Wednesday) at 10am. The event is being organised to break stereotype about brick kiln workers and employers and some realities of their life through creative art. ILO Pakistan Country Director Francesco d’Ovido, Punjab Labour and Human Resource Secretary Hassan Iqbal, Punjab Literacy Department Secretary Dr Pervaiz Ahmed Khan, ANCE President Raja Abbas Ali, PUCAD Principal Prof Dr Rahat Naveed Masud, and Prof Dr Anis A Siddiqui will address the participants on the occasion. A large number of kiln workers, who are beneficiary of the ILO-ANCE Literacy Project, will be present on the occasion.
