CPNE sets up Press Freedom Monitoring Desk.
Karachi,January 12,2005:The council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) has set up Press Freedom Monitoring Desk to take appropriate steps with regard to the violation of press freedom in the country.
Announcing this, CPNE Secretary General Dr Jabbar Khattak said in a statement on January 11 that the inaugural ceremony of the desk would be held on January 14 at 3:30 pm at a local hotel in Karachi.
Federal Minister for information Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, Pakistan Bar Council vice chairman Rashid A Rizvi, Pakistan peoples Party (PPP) Sindh President Syed Qasim Ali Shah, Member National Assembly (MNA) Asadullah Bhutto and Pakistan Federation of Unions of Journalists (PFUJ) President Ahfaz ur Rehman would Address the occasion.
