CPNE forms Press Council Committee
KARACHI- Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) has constituted Press Council Committee, says a press release issued by CPNE Secretary General Amir Mehmood on Wednesday.
Khushnood Ali Khan (Daily Sahafat) was nominated as Chairman, while Rameeza Majid Nizami (Daily Nawa-i-Waqt) as Vice Chairperson of the newly formed committee.
Other members of Press Council Committee (PCC) included Jamil Athar Qazi (Daily Jurrat), Arif Nizami (Daily Pakistan Today), Muhammad Zia-ud-Din (Daily Express Tribune), Dr Jabbar Khattak (Daily Awami Aawaz), Wamiq Zubairi (Daily Business Recorder), Syed Fasih Iqbal (Daily Baluhistan Times), Peer Safaid Shah Hamdard (Daily Wahdat), Rehmat Ali Razi (Weekly Azm), Siddique Baluch (Daily Baluchistan Express), Imtiaz Alam (South Asian Journal), Amir Mehmood (Monthly Kiran Digest) and Ilyas Shakir (Daily Qaumi Akhbar).
CPNE’s Press Council Committee would not only review the performance of Press Council of Pakistan and give suggestions to improve its working but also play its role in evolving joint strategy to make code of conduct for journalists and laws regarding freedom of press.
