CPNE flays violence against newsmen
KARACHI, April 19, 2005: The Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editor (CPNE) has strongly condemned unprecedented state sponsored violence against journalists and editors travelling along with Asif Ali Zardari.
“Baton bash on journalists, snatching of cameras cell phones and other valuables from journalists and editors, who arrived at Lahore from Dubai along with Zardari, to prevent them performing their duties while they were covering the arrival of Zardari in Pakistan, is highly deplorable and sufficient to depict the actual situation of press freedom in Pakistan,” said CPNE spokesman.
