CPNE boycotts groups involved in attacks on newspapers
KARACHI- The editors of newspapers of Sindh have decided to boycott the political and nonpolitical parties, which will commit terrorism against any newspapers.
“The decision is being implemented with the boycott of the organization which set ablaze copies of the daily Jang, recently, and blocked distribution of the newspaper,” says a press release issued after a meeting of the Regional Committee of the Council of Newspapers Editors (CPNE). The meeting urged President Musharraf to personally take note of these incidents, which impede freedom of the press.
The meeting was attended by Vice President CPNE Mahmood-ul-Aziz, Convener CPNE’s Karachi Committee Anwar Farooqi daily Aghaz, General Secretary All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS)Qazi Asad Abid daily Ibrat, Editor Kawish Qazi Aslam, Editor Jang Mehmood Sham, CPNE Finance Secretary and Editor Nawa-e-Nawabshah Mushtaq Ahmed Qureshi, Editor Khwateen Digest Amir Mehmood, Editor Qaumi Awaz Dr Jabbar Khattak, Editor Qaumi Akhbar Ilyas Shakir, Editor Roohani Digest Waqar Yousuf Azeemi, Editor Mashriq Mustansar Javed, Editor Evening Special Syed Mumtaz Ahmed, Editor Investment & Marketing Prof SB Hasan, Editor daily Millat Inqilab Matri and Editor Business Recorder MA Zuberi.
