Court summons PTV for orders violation

ISLAMABAD: The Civil Court has summoned Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) to appear in the court with all available records on 19th April for awarding a contract to another company which violate court orders. According to the details, PTV executed a 10-year Exclusive Software Supply and License Agreement with M/s Pak Television Channel Limited (PTCL) Inc. on 30-01-2006. This was an extension of a long a continuation of back-to-back earlier executed between the parties.

This was done with the approval of Board of Directors of PTV which meeting held on October 7 and October 28, 2005. However, the PTV management, while completely bypassing its Board of Directors including its Chairman, continued its parleys with it while M/s Echo Star is already in contract with Pak Television Channel Limited in violation of the court orders. Apprehending a breach of the solemn understanding and exclusive License Agreement by the PTV management ,Syed Shahid Zaheer made written complaint not only to the PTV management but also to the President of Pakistan and sources told that the president has taken serious notice of this regard .His earlier complain to the Prime minister of Pakistan is still under investigation.

PTCL on 13-04-2006 obtained an injunctive prohibitory order from the civil Court, Islamabad and a ban has been imposed on the administration of PTV that it can’t issue a license to any third party of United States and Canada.
