Court seeks CDs from media in Mirza blasphemy case
KARACHI: Additional District and Sessions Judge (South) issued directions to all private TV channels on Saturday to provide the CD of Zulfiqar Mirza’s press conference of October 09 (2011) on the application of provincial minister Rauf Siddiqui, seeking registration of blasphemy case against Dr Mirza.
The applicant alleged that Mirza had uttered sacrilegious remarks against the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) during his press conference on October 09 last year. The court also directed the IG and SP South to ascertain the jurisdiction and location of the alleged offence, and asked them to submit entire record on the next date of hearing on January 7, 2012.
Rauf Siddiqui filed an application in the court for registration of FIR against Zulfiqar Mirza for allegedly using derogatory remarks against the last Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) during the said press conference.
