Court grants bail to journalist
ISLAMABAD- The judicial magistrate and civil judge, Abdul Qayyum Khan, has confirmed permanent bail to a senior Dawn reporter Faraz Hashmi till final decision of the case.
Earlier, Justice Ali Nawaz Chohan of the Lahore High Court, Rawalpindi bench, had granted interim bail before arrest to Faraz Hashmi, directing him to approach a trial court for getting permanent bail.
Faraz Hashmi was injured when an army officer attacked him in front of the newspaper offices on November 16. On the medico legal report, a case was registered against the army major on the charges of inflicting injuries to Mr. Hashmi.
Later, the police also registered a cross case against Faraz Hashmi on the report of the accused military officer.
