Couple shot dead over love marriage

Karachi: A woman and her husband were shot dead in the Shah Lateef Town police limits on Monday.Mamona Bibi, 28, and her husband Afaq Ahmed, 25, were killed, while her cousin Fatima Bibi, 24, suffered bullet wounds, when armed men barged into their residence in Hingora Goth, opened fire on them and fled.

After hearing the gunshots, residents came out of their homes and informed the police. Police then took the dead and the injured to the JPMC.

According to the police, Mamona and Afaq fell in love and eloped to from their village in Haripur, Hazara, to the city where they got married in court. They were accompanied by Mamona’s cousin Fatima. On Monday their relatives traced their hideout and shot them dead.

Man poisons pregnant wife

A seven months pregnant woman was poisoned by her husband in their New Muslim Colony residence on Monday, police said. Tanzeem Bibi, 32, died after consuming poison following a quarrel with her husband Mukhtar. Mukhtar is at large.

Tanzeem’s body was shifted to the JPMC for legal formalities, where a medico-legal officer confirmed poisoning to be the cause of death. He also noted that the woman was seven months pregnant.
