Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) demands judicial inquiry
ISLAMABAD- A supreme court or high court judge should hold inquiry into the publication of a blasphemous letter in The Frontier Post and the guilty persons must be punished under the law of the land, CPNE Acting President, Anwar Farooqui demanded.
“CPNE demands a supreme court or high court level inquiry into this incident,” Anwar Farooqui said in a statement on Pakistan Television (PTV).
He said that the Managing Director (MD) of the newspaper had stated that the letter was published under a conspiracy. “In view of this statement, the incident should be probed by a supreme court or high court judge and those found guilty should be given stringent punishment under the law of the land so that nobody has the audacity to publish such blasphemous material in future.”
