Constitutional rights not available on social media: Marriyum

Pakistan Press Foundation

The Federal Information Minister, Marriyum Aurangzeb, has stated that constitutional rights are not available on social media platforms such as Twitter, rallies, and meetings and urged the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf to provide evidence and take their claims to the court and police station.

The remarks were made in response to allegations made by PTI Chairman Imran Khan. Aurangzeb said that the constitution and law only recognise legal rights, and every citizen has the right to protect those rights, but they must provide evidence to do so.

Marriyum Aurangzeb also called out Imran Khan for making baseless allegations such as “35 punctures,” “10 billion,” “cypher,” and “American conspiracy.” She challenged him to provide evidence for these claims and take them to court.

The federal minister emphasised that making false accusations and spreading slander was neither a legal right nor a constitutional right.

She called for accountability and respect for the rule of law.
