Computer teaching from class 6th

LAHORE: Compulsory teaching of computer will be introduced from 6th to 8th class under national scheme of studies in the coming academic years.

The government of Punjab has provided computer labs to high/higher secondary schools for this purpose.

According to a circular issued by school education department, the secretary school education Punjab has directed all the headmasters of school and EDOs (Education) that the high higher secondary schools with computer labs shall start computer classes from class 6th by April 1, 2010. The Punjab examination commission will arrange examination of computer subject in 2013 for govt high schools as a compulsory subject in 8th class, It has already started computer paper for private schools from this year.

The circular further states the medium of instruction for computer subject will be English.

At least three periods per week shall be given to each class including practical work and hands on training.

The PTBB shall prepare immediately the syllabus boolal for class 6th, 7th and 8th. The computer books for 6th shou1d be available for govt school before April 1, 2010.

All the heads of high and higher secondary schools sha1l be personally responsible to arrange computer class along with practical.
