Complaint filed with CJP against misconduct of channel CEO
ISLAMABAD: A complaint has been moved before the Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry against alleged misconduct of a private TV channel’s CEO with the counsel of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regularity Authority (PEMRA).
According to the application, filed by counsel for the PEMRA, Ali Raza, immediately after conclusion of the hearing of a contempt petition on Tuesday, the counsel was standing outside the courtroom with Dr Abdul Jabbar, the acting chairman of PEMRA, when the official came over to them and wanted to speak to Dr Abdul Jabbar.
As the official was talking to Dr Abdul Jabbar, the counsel asked him that an appropriate course of action would be taken if he files a written complaint with the PEMRA that will be dealt immediately. At this point, the CEO angrily hit the counsel in the chest with his hand and pushed him side and proceeded to turn around and said; “You are all liars”.
