He said this while chairing a meeting of religious scholars from Rawalpividi, lslaimabad and Lahore. He said that these committees were already working at the provincial level and said that the government would not allow anyone to preach sectarianism or spread violence. He urged the utema to maintain peace and harmony during Muharram and asked them to report anyone who tried to exploit people’s religious sentiments or spread violence. He also took notice of websites spreading religious hatred and asked authorities to block them immediately.
Ejazul Haq urged the media to play an effective role in bringing people of different sects close and to convert Muharram into a month of Muslim solidarity and Unity.
