Commissioner asked to form JIT over Geo case
ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police has written a letter to the commissioner asking for formation of a joint investigation team to probe blasphemy allegations against Geo TV, according to Dunya News. According to police, the complaint against Geo TV and the allegations are being evaluated fully before a decision on arrest of the accused is made. Police will first gather evidence regarding the allegations leveled in the FIR and then decide over any possible arrest of the nominated accused, according to police sources. The sources said the video recording of the broadcast in question will be obtained to investigate the charges and for the purpose of investigation, the law ministry along with police’s legal branch and the Federal Investigation Authority’s Cyber Crime Wing will be contacted to assist. Sources further said that legal requirements for investigation will be fulfilled before making any arrest.
