CM facilitates KHUJ journalists for success in PFUJ polls
PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has felicitated the Journalists community of the province for the brilliant success of Khyber Union of Journalists (KHUJ) in the elections of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ).
In a statement, he congratulated senior journalists Shamim Shahid, Zia-ul-Haq, Arshad Aziz Malik, Saiful Islam Saifi and Samin Jan of KHUJ for their election as office-bearers of the central body of journalists in the country.
He said that election of five journalists from the province of various slots of PFUJ is a great honour for the province and an acknowledgement of the struggle made by Journalists community of the province for promoting high journalistic values and their sacrifices rendered in the line of professional duties.
Khattak expressed the hope that the newly elected office-bearers of PFUJ will play their due role in promoting high journalistic values in society and projecting the issues of the province at national and international level.
He urged the media community to project the agenda of change of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa govt especially its endeavors for uprooting the menace of corruption in govt machinery in larger national interest as well as guide the provincial govt in this regard.
“Journalists are supposed to pinpoint the mistakes and weaknesses of the govt but they also have to apprise the people of the goods the govt is doing for the masses specials’ for the poor to encourage us accordingly”, he added.
The chief minister said that PTI believed in freedom of media and freedom of expression and information and hence would welcome every positive criticism of media introducing right to information bill was ample proof of our sincerity to legalize this freedom for all and sundry he concluded.
