City Nazim lauds mediafolk for cooperation

KARACHI: City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal paid rich tributes to the newsmen who had given coverage to all the mega-development projects, particularly the signal-free corridor in Karachi, which, he said, had “turned the development history around”.

He said this while addressing a luncheon meeting in honour of journalists at a local hotel on Tuesday. Mustafa Kamal said “we have broken all past records in the completion of all the development projects”.

The Nazim said he intended to share all the development projects with newsmen as claimed by him “miracle in a year turned into reality and said due to the President’s security measures few people were allowed, but for the first time wee sharing all the development projects in Karachi. He paid rich tributes to journalists.

Mustafa said the signal-free corridor was completed in eight months and given a new colour in completion of the projects for future Mayors/Nazims. The development projects, he said, had to be completed in months instead of years to expedite the pace of development in Karachi, he added.

Kamal said he wanted to give recognition to the officers who played a vital role in the completion of these mega-projects, including the DCO, Karachi, Fazlur Rehman, KWSB Managing Director Brigadier Iftikhar Haider, EDO Works and Services Amanullah Chachar, EDO, Finance Naila Wajid, DO Nisar Sario, DDO Planning and Development Department Sajid Usmani and Chief Engineer Water Board Muhammad Arif.

The Nazim said without the cooperation of these officers these projects could have never turned into reality. He expressed his gratitude to Karachiites for extending their full cooperation as they had to face problems over eight months.

Later, he explained in details salient features of the Karachi Elevated Expressway (KEE) which will have six interchanges and allow users to enter high activity areas and it will have four lanes dual carriage way.

The KEE will cause no traffic jam in Karachi and routine traffic of city will not be affected due to its construction as it have safe, convenient and cost effective environment. Nazim said after all we are human being and can commit mistakes and always welcome positive criticism and learning process is the key to our success.
