LAHORE: The ARY TV kept on airing false and fabricated reports about a court order with the intention to malign Geo TV.

Additional District and Sessions Judge, Lahore, Muhamamd Nadeem Ansari, has withdrawn his decision of issuing warrants against responsible officials of Geo TV after he was presented a copy of stay order of the Lahore High Court (LHC) dated June 23 on the matter.

The judge had issued non-bailable warrants for Geo TV officials on a petition filed by ARY anchor Mubashar Luqman. Luqman had adopted that the Geo administration had launched a defamation campaign against him.

The additional district and sessions judge on June 12 issued non-bailable warrants against responsible officials of the Geo TV and ordered police to present them on June 25. Geo administration challenged this order in LHC.

Justice Saradar Muhammad Shamim Khan of LHC on June 23 suspended the subordinate court’s order and set July 10 as the date for hearing the case, notices for which were also issued.

On Wednesday, anchor Luqman appeared in the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Nadeem Ansari. The additional judge then issued non-bailable warrants of the Geo administration officials yet again and summoned them for July 26.

Luqman did not inform the court about the stay order granted by the LHC.The Geo News administration, however, informed the court about the LHC stay. The additional sessions judge ordered that warrants not be issued against Geo administration after viewing relevant documents and the LHC order.

The private channel and its anchor who is petitioner in the case, however, kept on airing news of re-issuance of arrest warrants till late night. It showed how this channel and its anchor are waging a baseless propaganda drive to mislead the masses about Geo TV.
