Categories for 16th APNS Journalist Awards

KARACHI – Secretary General All Pakistan Newspapers Society Muhammad Aslam Kazi had announced the categories constituting the 16th APNS Journalist Awards.

In a press release of the APNS issued on September 25, Aslam Kazi advised the journalists, photographers and cartoonists of member publications to submit their entries in any one of the categories.

The editors and chief executives of member publications may also send the entries on behalf of their journalists for the contest, the press release further said and added that the entrants are not allowed to send entries for more than one category. The entries should have appeared in member publications of the APNS between January 1, 2001 and December 31, 2002.

The categories are as under:

1. Best investigative report: Open for all dailies and periodical publications.

2. Best scoop: Open for daily publications only.

3. Best column: In the following three sub-categories: I – English language dailies; II – Urdu language dailies and III – Regional language dailies.

4. Best feature: In the following three sub-categories: I – English language publications; II – Urdu language publications and III – Regional language publications.

5. Best article of the year 2001 or 2002: In the following sub-categories: I – English language; II – Urdu language and III – Regional language.

6. Best cartoon: Open to all cartoonists of member publications.

7. Best photograph: Open to all photographers of member publications.

Six copies of each photograph of standard size (10 inches x 12 inches) should be submitted.

The secretary-general APNS stated that he participants are required to send three entries in any one category (six copies of each entry) published in member publications during the relevant period (January 1, 2001 to December 31, 2002). The entries must be submitted having composed/typed on separate sheets without giving the name of the author and publication along with a copy of tear sheet of the publication.

For regional language entries for best investigative report and best scoop, the entrants are required to submit Urdu/English translation of the entry as well.

Muhammad Aslam Kazi further announced that sending of the entries would be the responsibility of the individual and only in case where the names of participants do not appear in the by-line, the competent authority in the publication should countersign the entry.
