Call to include human rights as subject
KARACHI: The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) has urged the Ministry of Education to include human rights as a subject in the curriculum of schools, colleges and universities to educate the masses about their rights and duties.
President UNISAME Zulfikar Thaver said in a statement that it was very important to create awareness and educate the citizens about their human rights. “The people must know their rights, their obligations and to voice their grievances collectively when they are deprived of their rights or treated badly, he said.
UNISAME by virtue of its membership with the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) has launched a campaign against corruption, labour laws violations, environment pollution and deprivation of human rights to citizens. It also intends to work for setting up of best business practices bureau with the help and support of trade leaders and welcomes trade leaders to come forward and volunteer for the cause to check the menace of poor services, substandard goods, counterfeits and fraud and forgery and bring bad practices to book.
