Call for cross-border visas for three correspondents

Pakistan Press Foundation

Karachi: Officials of the Kolkata and Karachi press clubs have demanded the governments of India and Pakistan to allow at least three correspondents with cross-border visas in their respective countries.

In a joint statement issued on Sunday, the press clubs’ office-bearers said the governments of India and Pakistan currently allowed only one correspondent each and that too with restrictions.

Karachi Press Club General Secretary Amir Latif said the KPC would approach the government with the proposal.

Latif expressed hope that the effort would help both countries understand each other in a much better way.

Kolkata Press Club President Sudipta Sengupta endorsed Latif’s statement and vowed to lobby for increasing the number of Pakistani correspondents in India.
