Cable operators threaten to stop Indian channels’ telecast

KARACHI (January 16 2009): All Indian television channels would be banned, if the neighbouring country did not stop propaganda against Pakistan. This was stated by M.S Akhtar, president, cable operators association of Pakistan (CAP) at the inauguration ceremony of S.A Motors along with Irfan Ahmad, President, Electronic Market, Saddar and Saleem Memon, President, Rainbow Centre on Thursday.

He appreciated the role of Pakistani news channel during Indo-Pak crisis, saying that local news channels were tackling the issue with quite maturity. He further said that Indian channels were doing irresponsible journalism and added that if they did not stop their attempts to tarnish Pakistan’s image, all Indian channels including entertainment channels would be stopped by the cable operators. He said that cable operators were responsibly playing their role to safeguard country’s image and termed it as a supreme obligation to the country.
