Cable operators seek telecast of Indian channels

LAHORE- The Lahore High Court (LHC) has issued notice to the respondents in a petition filed by the President, Cable Operators Association (CAO), praying to the court to direct the respondent to allow them to telecast Indian channels.

The petitioner contended that after the decision of the government, imposing ban on the telecast of Indian channels, their business has damaged badly, as people have started disconnecting their cable connections. He said that the respondents have allowed Star TV to telecast its transmission on cable, which is showing the advertisements of Indian movies. He said that the action of the respondents is discriminatory, illegal and without lawful authority.

He, therefore, prayed to the court to direct the respondents to withdraw their decision, allowing Star TV to show its programmes on cable.

The court after hearing his counsel at length issued notices to the respondents and called for comments within a fortnight.
