CABLE OPERATORS’ ISSUES DISCUSSED
Pakistan Broadcasters Association & Punjab Revenue Authority had a meeting yesterday to discuss the issue of payment of Sales Tax by Cable Operators and sealing of their business premises by PRA. On PBA’s assurance to mediate the matter within 30 days, PRA has agreed to de-seal the cable networks in Gujranwala and Sardogha and would stop further sealings within this time frame.
PBA Board will invite and sit along with PRA on January 15, 2016 to mutually resolve the issue so that viewers and citizens are not deprived of information and entertainment and at the same time lawful taxes are also retrieved. The representatives of Cable Operators would also be asked to join the meeting. PBA Executive Director Mr Muhammad Ali Butt met with PRA Chairman Dr Raheel Ahmad Siddiqui on this matter and thanked PRA for the above understanding”.
