Cable operators clarify news item
ISLAMABAD: Representatives of the Cable Operators Association (CAO) Saturday strongly rejected a news item that appeared in an English newspaper saying that the CAO and the Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA) in an earlier rally agreed to black out the broadcast of illegal and obscene TV channels as well as the writ of senior journalist Ansar Abassi and the programmes of other senior reporters, according to a press release.
Stating the news item as completely untrue and fabricated, the CAO asserted that cable operators widely respected the Supreme Court and always obeyed the court orders and directives.
Similarly it added that they respected senior journalists.
According to the press release, the meeting that took place between the Cable Operators Association and the Pakistan Broadcasters Association was simply a matter of routine in a bid to ensure that viewers were treated to the best possible television and that the alleged decision never took place.
