Bomb rocks CD market in Swabi

Six shops among eight were completely destroyed in a bomb explosion, on late Thursday night, November 10, 2011, that targeted a Compact Disc (CD) market in Swabi district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhuwa province of Pakistan.

Unknown miscreants planted explosives outside two CDs shops in Javed Market which houses many video and music CD shops. The explosion was occurred at around 3 am. However no causality or injury was reported in the blast because no one was present in the market during night.

The blast completely destroyed six CD shops and partially two other. Police and Bomb Disposal Squad reached the scene soon after the blasts and gathered the evidences.

Safdar Hhayat Dawar, president Tribal Union of Journalists (TUJ) told PPF that the owners of CDs shops were repeatedly getting threats from militants to look for alternate source of livelihood or to face dire consequences if they did not close their CDs business.
