Body formed to probe attack on TV reporter
KOHAT: The district administration on Tuesday constituted a high-level team headed by SP
investigations Jamilur Rehman to probe the attack on Geo TV channel reporter, Syed Yasir Shah.
The team is to submit its findings within two weeks.
The probe body was formed after Deputy Commissioner Dr Azmatullah Wazir and district police officer
Farhan Khan held a meeting with the office-bearers of the Kohat Press Club at the police club here.
Press club president Noor Mohamad Bangash, general secretary Faisal Nadeem, and others expressed
deep anguish over a recent attack on the Geo TV reporter and his cameraman when they were returning
after covering an event.
Mr Bangash told the officials that after the first grenade attack on the reporter’s house in March 2023,
followed by threatening letters, he had lodged an FIR and demanded protection for his and his children’s
lives. However, Mr Bangash lamented that the protection was not provided to him, forcing the
newsman to stop sending his children to school.
He demanded that senior police and administration officials provide security to media persons.
Mr Wazir and Mr Farhan said investigations were being conducted to trace the culprits.
