Blind woman gets Ph.D. degree

KARACHI .Jan.16:A blind resident of Korangi has got Ph.D. degree in Urdu Piterature from Karachi University and became the second blind of Pakistan to perform this feat.
Earlier, Farzana Suleman Poonawala, a blind woman of Karachi, had obtained the Ph.D. degree. Mumtaz Umer, the tal­ented recipient of the degree was awarded a gold medal on behalf of Korangi Town.

He presented the medal to Mumtaz Umer be­fore a big athering held at Korangi on Wednesddy ight.Mumtaz Umer had ‘written a researchpaperonNasimHijazi’s history writing.

The ceremony was addressed on the occasion by former Mayor Karachi Abdul Sattar Afghani, former ‘Parliamentarian Aslam Muja’hid, Town Nazim Korangi Abdul jalil Khan and Prof. 15r Muhammad Yunus, the super­vising teacher of Mumtaz Umer.

Addressing the function Naimatullah-Khan said that Mumtaz Umer is far talented than common men and it is nowledgement of his talents that people with sight are garlanding him.He said father of Mumtaz Umer also was a reputed person, but Mumtaz, although a- blind, has got his position admitted from the Society and deserve appreciation. He said the respect and,-, fame he is mustering in such, 411 young age, is hardlygained by few people .

Afghani said that he has be come an admirer of Mumtaz Umer and his talk gives a feeling that he is a big Scholar Aslam MujShid said that research paper of Mumtaz Umer should be published.

Nazim Abdul Jalil Khan said that Korangi has the credit of having a talented person like Mumtaz Umer as its resident.
Prof. Muhammad’Yunus said he has score of his Pupils but Munitaz has provtpa unique student.
