Blast destroys barber’s shop

PESHAWAR: A barber’s shop was destroyed in a bomb blast in the jurisdiction of Pishtakhara Police Station late on Friday, police said. The police said the bomb went off in the salon situated in the Nodeh Bala area at around 3am.

There were no casualties in the blast. The police cordoned off the areas after the blast. It also registered a first information report against unidentified people. Hair salons, music shops, cinemas and non-government organisation, especially those working for the welfare of women, in the NWFP routinely receive threatening letters from militants.

Many music markets have been destroyed in the past. So far the provincial government has not been able to apprehend those involved in attacks.

Earlier, at around 10pm unidentified gunmen killed a policeman in the jurisdiction of the same police station. Pishtakhara Police Station is situated near the Bara tehsil of the Khyber Agency, where the military launched an operation against the militant organisation Lashkar-e-Islam (LI) on Saturday.
