Blasphemy case given to AD&SJ

KASUR, Feb 14: District and sessions judge Zaibtul Husain on Wednesday ordered to entrust the case of blasphemy accused Martha Bibi of Changa Manga to the court of additional district and sessions judge Rao Abdul Jabar for hearing on Feb 17.

Mr Husain also directed inspector (legal) Qamaruz Zaman to appear before the trial court on the said date on behalf of the Kasur DPO with reference to his request that transportation of the accused to the Chunian court might create a law and order situation. The D&SJ in his orders has called none of the parties (accused and complainants) on the said date.

Earlier, the legal inspector had requested the court to assess the current prevailing situation with reference to the DPOÂ’s request. The D&SJ observed that instead of prolonging the proceedings without any substantial progress, it would be appropriate to entrust this case to the court of AD&SJ Rao Abdul Jabar.

Chunian police had arrested Martha on Jan 22 following blasphemy accusations against her on the report of Muhammad Dilbul of Kot Nanak Singh. She had been sent to judicial lockup the same day.
